Comic book films have built a massive following over the last decade, ever since Marvel launched the first Iron Man in 2008. But with the exception of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy showcasing Heath Ledger’s (arguably) greatest role, the hits have all been under Marvel’s MCU. Now, DC might finally be gaining ground with Wonder Woman. Poised to become another blockbuster superhero film, the Wonder Woman movie is more than meets the eye. Director Patty Jenkins, the first female to direct a superhero movie, deserves a pat on the back for delivering a story women can really be proud of. But more than that, a story fans can embrace.
Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the iconic heroine made it clear she is here to stay and cement her legacy as an A-list actress. It would be interesting to see if this role paves the way for an even more successful career for the Israeli powerhouse.
Why Wonder Woman Movie Is Such a Sight to Behold
1. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is Just Perfect
Let’s admit it, the superhero film genre is dominated by male superheroes, while female heroes always seem to take a back seat and carry supporting roles (Lookin’ at you ScarJo). But Gadot’s spot-on characterization of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman instantly changed that narrative. Not only was she able to give justice to how great of a warrior Wonder Woman is, but she also showed the heroine’s loving yet vulnerable side in a very passionate way.
2. Chris Pine Being the Man Every Strong Woman Needs
Pine’s portrayal of Steve Trevor was just superb as he represented a man every strong woman needs to be by her side. He was understanding of their differences, gentle with her feelings, and was at his strongest when Diana needed him most. Also, there was genuine chemistry between the two characters. Too bad (for Pine) Gadot is married. But seriously, Pine is a leading man with an impressive resume, and acting in a supporting role was a huge adjustment. Kudos on nailing it!
3. Gave a Different Complexion to DCEU Films
DCEU films have generally always been considered too dark and too serious. That showed in the reviews. The Wonder Woman movie, however, was simple and light-hearted. It was easy to comprehend, and the story unfolded almost effortlessly. Plus, the fight between the Amazons and the soldiers was really well-choreographed, making it is a nice departure from all the supernatural, over the top fights going on in the rest of the DCEU universe.
4. Gave Fans Plenty of Reasons To Anticipate Justice League
After the lackluster reviews of Batman VS Superman, lots of fans were left having second thoughts, wondering if they even wanted to see Justice League. Dawn of Justice was pretty much a flop. While the movie did just okay at the box office, reviews from fans and critics alike ripped the movie to shreds. With Wonder Woman, however, fans actually have a hero they want to see again! If Gadot can bring the same level of performance, she could singlehandedly carry the Justice League movie, and get fans excited about the Dawn of Justice sequel.
5. Naturally Funny

Who thought Diana’s innocence could be entertaining? Every scene with Steve, a man, was a lot of fun to watch — especially when they first meet each other. This was hilariously on full display during their trip to London, when they’re both trying to get some sleep in a very small boat.
6. A Great Reminder of Human Nature and Love
The movie tackled the good and vicious nature of human beings. It showed how it’s not a greater being who influences us, but instead, we make decisions based on our own free will. The movie is a nice reminder that life is about balance, and it’s on all of us to make sure that we balance the bad in the world with our own good.
7. It’s So Great A Sequel Should be a No-brainer
Review: It took 75 years, but Wonder Woman’s first solo film is pretty damn good https://t.co/vtHMAJGKgY

The film was a flashback of Wonder Woman’s early years of seeing the world outside Themyscira. Also, she faced one of her greatest foes in Ares, but there are still plenty of villains who gave her a tough time. There is Cheetah and Maxwell Lord, but fans are definitely looking forward to Wonder Woman and Circe’s showdown.
Meanwhile, TIME has nothing but praise for this marvelous flick and says the long wait is totally worth it.

The Wonder Woman movie can easily go down as one of the top (if not THE top) DC films of all-time. It proved you don’t need a massive superhero team-up to be memorable and impressive. Especially since this film outperformed Gadot’s previous superhero team-up in Dawn of Justice! Sometimes, effective storytelling and being a source of inspiration are more than enough to make fans walk out of the theater with a huge smile on their faces.
