Looking for first date tips? Having the chance to go on a date with the girl you’ve been eyeing for a long time or someone you met online can be really exciting, awkward, or even nerve-wracking.
Obviously, you want it to go well and make a remarkable first impression, so read on to have that great first date!
First Date Tips | How To Make A Great First Impression
1. Where to Go
Deciding where to go on your first date can be quite stressful. Some may opt for a classic movie and dinner combo, a coffee date, or just drinks in a bar. Ask what she wants to do or suggest a hobby you’re interested in, like hiking, bowling, or watching a game. What’s more important is you’ll be getting to know more about each other and find out your compatibility.
2. What to Talk About
Be a conversationalist! Remember not to talk too much about yourself. Going on a date with someone is an opportunity to get to know more about them. Find common interests and work your way around it and be careful on things you shouldn’t mention (at least at first). More importantly, don’t put up a front and be honest.
3. Checking Your Phone
Looking at your phone, checking your messages, or scrolling through your feed can be quite tempting especially on a boring date. Don’t be rude and be glued to your phone the whole time. Checking your friends’ activity can definitely wait, so as posting any status updates about your date. Engage in the conversation and respond appropriately.

4. What if I Get Nervous?
Don’t panic! Your date probably is just as nervous as you are. Stressing out on the little things can ruin a perfectly good time. Just try not to overthink, relax, and have a good time. If it helps, treat it like you are just meeting a friend to lower any form of expectation.
5. What to Wear?
Wear something appropriate for your activity and be well-groomed. Dress to impress, but make sure you can breathe, eat, or walk on your outfit. A first date can be really filled with anxiety; you don’t have to be uncomfortable with your clothes as well.
6. Who Should Pay?

This has always been tricky. The tactful way would be to reach for the check when it arrives. However, if your date insists on paying, you should at least offer to split the bill and actually pay or just leave the tip. Regardless, you should be ready to take the initiative since it is more likely you were the one who asked to go out.
7. After the Date
So you had a pretty good time and want to go out another time… you’re probably asking yourself, should I text first or should I wait? If you want to send a casual text to let them know you had a wonderful time, go for it. Women like confident men and letting them know how much you enjoyed your time together is a classy gesture.

No matter who you date, just remember not to be too blinded with attraction and work with the chemistry you two had built up – this will be a deciding factor to have that second date. At the end of the day, what matters most is you had fun. And, if it didn’t work out, it is still a useful learning experience that can lead to a date that will change your life.
